Self-Guided Holidays and Small Group Adventures Europe: Switzerland
Swiss mountains are among the most dramatic and challenging of all the Alpine ranges, but you don’t have to be a skilled mountaineer or climber to enjoy an active walking holiday among them, for Switzerland contains some of Europe’s finest walking terrain, with enough variety to suit every taste. Rustic inns and a network of Alpine or mountain huts (Hütte; refuge; rifugio, cabane or capanna) provide simple dormitory accommodation, generally with meals too, for those who plan to make multi-day walking tours. Often we think of stereotypes - alpine pastures, contented cows grazing lush grass, wooden chalets and snow-capped mountains. However, although there is much truth in this narrow view, it does little justice to the spectacular variety of terrain that Switzerland is able to offer the adventurer.
Switzerland offers a range of walking adventures - a walk of the Haute-Route, a traverse of the Matterhorn, and several Mont Blanc walking holidays:
Utracks Europe offers a range of guided and self-guided tours to help you hike and walk your way around Switzerland on a small group adventure holiday.
